Life gets so busy this time of year. It took me all month to get into the spirit of Christmas. Yes, I was a Scrooge. Most of my shopping was done late and without much thought. Only a quarter of my decorations went up this year. I wrapped all the gifts at the last minute. I didn’t watch my favorite Christmas movies–what is the holiday season with Bing Crosby and a White Christmas? Yes, there was some caroling and we did see two spectacular light displays, but I didn’t do much baking. Or giving.
It wasn’t until last night that the Spirit of Christmas hit. Last night I remembered the reason for the season and was suddenly grateful for all that I have. My family will be here this afternoon. We will have a dinner to remember and exchange gifts. We will watch my grandson’s eyes light with the wonder of it all. And there is beautiful snow on the ground.
This year I published four books, a dream come true. This year both hubby and I enjoyed good health. This year we laughed and cried and rejoiced over family setbacks and accomplishments. This year we were busy, but made time for each other.
This year was a good year.
From our house to yours, may the remainder of your holiday season be Merry and Bright. And best wishes for a wonderful New Year!
